The Medical Representative visits all the doctors on his list every month and engages in various marketing activities to establish rapport with his customers. If he successfully convinces a customer after multiple visits, it leads to a regular business month after month. The Pharma Business relies heavily on building relationships, which grow over time as doctors begin to support more products offered by the same medical representative.
After building good relationships with 10-15 doctors in their territory and getting them to prescribe the company’s products, medical representatives consistently exceed their targets. This leads to earning incentives, star awards, and opportunities for national/international trips.
The company understands doctors prescribe products due to their relationships with medical representatives. Therefore, they offer these representatives good salaries, raises, and promotions.
If you build strong relationships with 10-15 key doctors in your area, this industry offers better rewards in terms of salaries, bonuses, raises, and promotions compared to other industries. Top Indian and multinational companies will actively seek to hire you because they recognize your ability to influence their business through these important customer connections.
Top pharmaceutical companies usually hesitate to hire fresh graduates as medical representatives because these graduates need time and support to understand their job roles through field training from managers.
Generally, top companies prefer experienced candidates to save time and money. Due to limited opportunities, many fresh graduates join small companies that don’t provide proper training or support. Without adequate knowledge about the products and job roles, these fresh graduates often struggle and form a negative impression of the pharma industry.
